Furniture with epoxy resin

Do you also see the so-called river tables on social media more and more often? Would you like to have one to enrich the interior of your home or office? Well, then at Seconda Vita, Upcycled you’re at the right place!

At our atelier in Ascona, we not only create river tables, but different furniture with and without epoxy resin. The fantastic thing about this resin is that you can make unique furniture with many different materials that remain over time. Consider, for example, a table top with flowers, stones, shells, leaves, colored pencils, photographs, coins, beer caps or other (personal) materials that remain clearly visible under the resin. Another possibility is to use the resin to close cracks and holes and make the table top easier to maintain and clean. In addition to tables, bar tops, shop counters, shelves, stools and other things can be created.

We aspire to capture the beauty of nature found in trees and show them to their greatest potential. Our passion is to reuse recovered materials, but it is certainly also possible to use new materials. Our goal with every piece of furniture created is to convey to our customers the same passion we felt during creation.

We can take inspiration from the natural shape of the tree or follow the shape desired by the customer; with epoxy resin it is possible to create very personal pieces of furniture that remain over time and that will be appreciated for generations.

The furniture with resin is entirely custom made. The possibilities are therefore endless. We have knowledge of materials, construction properties, ease of use and above all design. Creating a piece of furniture with resin takes a long time, because it requires a high level of labor. We start with raw wood; according to the customer’s wishes we look for the wood or slab to use, with the measurements (length, width and thickness) that can be determined entirely as the client wishes. We allow our customers to participate in the material selection process until we find the perfect ones.

For the epoxy finish there is the possibility to choose between various colors, transparency and opacity. There is also the color glow in the dark. After having poured the resin it is necessary to sand with different grits of sandpaper at least ten times and sometimes it is necessary to pour with resin again, to then repeat the process of sanding.

Usually we supply painted steel table legs, in the shape preferred by the customer, but it is also possible to make a waterfall leg, that is as if the table top also formed the leg with the resin coming down towards the floor.
